Glow — Privacy Policy
Effective October 2, 2026
Glow restyles hair and clothing in a photo you choose. This policy explains, plainly, what happens to your data. The short version: your photo is sent to an AI service to create your result, Glow does not store it, and Glow has no accounts, ads, or cross-app tracking.
Face Data and Facial Information
To provide style transformations and personalized fashion advice, Glow processes images that may contain faces. In accordance with Apple's App Store Review Guidelines (Guideline 5.1.1(v)), below is our complete disclosure regarding face data:
1. What Face Data Glow Collects
Glow does not collect, extract, or store biometric identifiers, facial templates, facial geometry meshes, or faceprints. When you choose a photo, Glow processes face data in two limited ways:
- On-Device Face Detection: Glow uses Apple's native Vision framework (
VNDetectFaceRectanglesRequest) entirely on your device in volatile memory (RAM) to detect 2D face bounding box coordinates (position, width, and height). This is used solely to verify that a person is in the photo, check that the styled result preserves your natural proportions, and perform on-device head compositing so your original identity, facial expression, and eyewear are preserved without distortion. - User-Selected Photo: The photo you explicitly select from your library containing your face and outfit is transmitted via an encrypted HTTPS connection to Google's Gemini API to generate the restyled image and written style coaching advice.
2. Planned Use of Face Data
Face data is used exclusively to deliver the core functionality of the app:
- Verifying that the photo contains an individual before styling begins.
- Generating the requested haircut or outfit makeover and personalized stylist recommendations.
- Validating scale and alignment to prevent artificial distortions or framing errors.
- Seamlessly blending your original face and expression onto the restyled image on-device.
Glow never uses face data for user identification, authentication, surveillance, profiling, advertising, marketing, or to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.
3. Third-Party Sharing and Storage
Glow does not sell, lease, trade, or share face data with any advertising networks, data brokers, or marketing partners:
- Third-Party Processors: The user-selected photo is transmitted securely via an encrypted HTTPS connection through our Cloudflare Worker proxy directly to Google Cloud (Google Gemini API) solely as a technical service provider for the real-time processing of your restyle request. Google processes the image ephemerally under its Cloud API terms and does not use customer content to train its models.
- Where Face Data is Stored: Face data is never stored on any Glow servers, Cloudflare edge servers, or third-party databases. All face detection bounding boxes remain strictly in volatile RAM on your device and are never transmitted or persisted.
4. Retention and Deletion Practices
Glow maintains a strict zero-retention policy for face data:
- Retention Period: Face data and photos are retained only for the active duration of the request session (typically a few seconds) needed to generate and composite your image.
- Immediate Deletion: On-device face bounding boxes and cached image buffers in RAM are purged immediately once generation and compositing complete. Neither Glow nor its backend maintains any persistent storage, log, or database containing your photos or face data.
- User Control: Because no face data is stored or associated with an account or identity, there is no remote data to request deletion of. Generated results are saved to your device's Photos app only if and when you tap "Save".
Your photo
When you use a glow, the photo you chose is sent over an encrypted connection to Google's Gemini API (via Cloudflare) and is used to generate your edited image and the written styling notes. Two requests are made per glow — one for the image, one for the notes — and both include the photo.
Glow does not store your photo. It is not saved on any Glow server, and it is not added to any database or collection. Google processes it as part of generating your result under its own API terms; Glow only ever sees the result.
Before anything is sent, Glow checks the photo on your device using Apple's built-in sensitive-content analysis — that check itself sends nothing and stores nothing.
Photos never leave your device except for this purpose. Glow does not access your photo library beyond the photo you pick, and saving a result is only done when you tap Save.
Purchases
Glow credits and Glow Pro are in-app purchases processed entirely by Apple. Glow receives no card details and no billing address — only confirmation that the purchase happened.
iCloud
Your glow balance syncs across your devices using your iCloud account (Key-Value Storage). That data lives in your iCloud, under Apple's privacy policy, not on Glow servers.
What Glow does not do
- No accounts or sign-in
- No ads
- No selling or sharing data with anyone
Children
Glow is not directed at children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will appear at this address with a new effective date.
